Trip to New York

Coming in for a landing!

Cradle of Aviation on Long Island, NY
On a Monday in December, Karen, Stan, Matt and I drove to an educational adventure called the Cradle of Aviation! I would definitely recommend going if you live on Long Island or visiting. It would be 3-4 hours well spent with friends and family.
Before you go, please make sure to print out the quest in order to help focus the learning experience.
The main exhibit explained the beginning of flying and principles of flight, and the history starting in beginning 1900’s. One of my favorite parts is the knowledgeable docents. If and when you go, you must interact with the guides and ask thoughtful questions please. The exhibit is interactive, but is showing its age and some activities did not work. It is amazing to think how far  and fast we came in flight from around 1900-1960. The last section about the space age was awesome. Overall it was laid out well.
The reason Karen, Stan, and Matt were  going was for the new, temporary video game exhibit. The four of us young adults enjoyed the nostalgia of playing the games. It is cool how they were set up like an arcade, and it is free, unlimited play. They had several systems and games, and different historical facts on markers. The markers could have been placed better. The Atari games didn’t really work well, but my companions said  that was typical laughingly. It was awesome to see all the different consoles and how video gaming progressed and the history.
If you want to experience the video games, you better hurry, you have all this year (2017) to go visit.
Please make sure to check out the website for more information and prices.
