Archives Preservation

I have a snow day so thought that I needed to update my blog. The past couple of weeks have been really busy at the National Archives (NARA). One of the missions of NARA is to preserve the documents of the U.S. government, and so it is frustrating to see, as an Archives Technician, researchers and staff mishandling the documents. Some will say it is just paper, but to the avid preservationist like myself it is important to preserve the documents. Without preservation the documents will disappear. I understand that probably most of the documents of the Federal Government will never be looked at and collect dust. Even though the records may be collecting dust, it is still present. The National Archives is important because it is a depository of Federal records, past, present, and future so that the Federal Government can be held accountable.

The beginning

This is just the beginning, but this blog is my thoughts about preservation in the world. In college I had a blog for a semester, and wanted to start another one. It is my hopes to discuss either preservation issues in the world and write about museums in communities.
